Forget what you know about mobile homes.

The stigma around living in a mobile home is real. But the creators of the new-age tiny home dubbed the Coodo are leaning in to the mobile home label—and you may actually be able to picture yourself living in one of their designs. Though “sleek” and “modern” aren’t two words that describe the cliché mobile home, they are words that describe the sustainable Coodo. And that design philosophy is just the beginning of what this movable prefab home has to offer.

It can even be parked on land or docked at sea. Seriously, this thing can float.

LGT Lofts, the company that makes the eco-friendly Coodo, was founded by banker-turned-architect Mark Dare Schmiedel out of a desire to live stress-free and closer to nature. As a modern, relatively affordable mobile home, these prefab structures are movable, adaptable, and extendable to fit a customer’s lifestyle and natural environment.

The Berlin-based company currently offers four models of the Coodo which can be used as modular personal homes, business structures, or hotel accommodations. For a minimalist personal home, a single-structure Coodo often features a kitchen, bathroom, and living area. The living area, which serves as sleeping quarters and the main home space, includes a Murphy bed for extra functionality during the day.

But the Coodo can also grow with your needs due to its modular design. The structures can be stacked for multiple levels or placed side-by-side. With options from 200 to 720 square feet depending on the Coodo model chosen, the modules are sleek, simple, and low impact. They are also affordable for prefab tiny homes, costing $65,000 to $135,000 for the basic designs before customizable specs. For a large price upgrade to almost $200,000, the structure can be made water-ready on a waterlogged platform.

The models can be personalized to have different lighting, flooring, and appliance options. The Coodo, which is often pictured with 360-degree glass can also be customized to have walls with a little more privacy. This option is especially present in the private home models, all of which have a “back wall.” Some Coodos even include a deck on the roof or on the structure’s side, extending the livable space of the tiny home into the outdoors.

Forget the stigma. The Coodo could make you proud to say you live in a mobile home.
