A holiday cottage in Brighstone is amongst the winners of this year’s VisitEngland ROSE Award – and the only Isle of Wight accommodation to scoop the prestigious title in 2022.

The ROSE Awards recognise the accommodation providers across England who provide visitors with the warmest of welcomes. They celebrate the establishments, irrespective of their star rating, style or type of accommodation, where the owners, management and employees provide outstanding experiences for their customers.

Winners were nominated by VisitEngland’s quality scheme assessors and selected from assessor comments and online feedback from overseas and domestic visitors.

The Mill House, a beautiful Grade II Listed Georgian farmhouse with spectacular views across fields to Brighstone Downs, has been awarded the VisitEngland 5 star Gold award since 2009 and has now scooped the ROSE award. Located in Mill Lane, it is just a 10-minute walk to the beach.

Owner Josie Gavoyannis is thrilled to have won the ROSE Award:

“We were one of 100 businesses nominated by VisitEngland quality scheme assessors and selected from their comments on online feedback and reviews from overseas and domestic visitors.  It was an honour to be awarded such a prestigious award and amazing to represent the Isle of Wight.

“Thank you to all our super guests who, without their support, feedback and return bookings, this award would not be possible!  The best part of working in the tourism industry for us is being part of our guests’ holiday memories and experiences and winning this award for service excellence means the world to us!”

Andrew Stokes, Director of VisitEngland, has said:

“It is great to see the ROSE Awards back as we celebrate and congratulate accommodation businesses across England excelling at customer service and creating stand-out experiences that keep visitors coming back time-after-time.

“The awards are also a wonderful showcase of the sheer scale of outstanding accommodation across England with visitors truly spoilt for choice. From stunning estates with camping on their doorstep to quintessentially English pubs with cosy rooms, from charming B&Bs and self-catering cottages in glorious locations to quirky beach huts in picture-perfect seaside towns, there is a stay to suit all tastes and requirements.”

The VisitEngland ROSE Awards 2022 were presented at an afternoon tea event on Thursday (5th May) at the Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa.

The awards are now in their 6th year after being paused in 2020 and 2021.
